State Court

The State Court of Emanuel County is locally legislated court that was introduced and approved by the Georgia General Assembly. The presiding judge is a locally elected State Court Judge. The court hears misdemeanor criminal matters, traffic violations, issues search and arrest warrants when needed, and handles civil matters not exclusively reserved for the Superior Court.

The State Court facilitates case processing by working with an appointed Public Defender from the local county and an elected Solicitor.

The State Court handles misdemeanor and traffic charges on the first and third Mondays of each month at 9:00 a.m.  To schedule a civil hearing in State Court, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 478-237-8911.  State Court trial terms are reserved for the last Monday of April, July, and October of each year.

Traffic citations may be paid prior to court by making payment to the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office via cash or money order.  Credit card payments are accepted at the Clerk’s Office or by visiting here.
