Heads up, Emanuel County! The tag office and the tax assessor’s office will each be closed to the public on different days over the next two weeks as they move into the new administration building.
The Emanuel County Tax Commissioner’s Office (or “the tag office”) will be closed Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, and will reopen to the public on Monday, April 14.
The Emanuel County Tax Assessor’s Office will be closed Tuesday, April 15, and Wednesday, April 16, and will reopen to the public on Thursday, April 17.
Right now, both offices are inside the Mitchell Building at 101 South Main Street (at the corner of Main and Main, across from the fountain). When each office reopens to the public, they’ll be located inside the newly constructed Thompson–Davis Building at 224 West Moring Street—next door to the post office and across from The Nordson Center.
If you were planning to handle business during either closure, we encourage you to go ahead and stop by this week or take advantage of e-services that will stay available during the move:
You can pay your property taxes using the Emanuel County Tax Commissioner’s payment portal.
You can renew your vehicle tags on the Georgia Drives website.
And you can find use the Emanuel County Tax Assessor's part of this website about various tax processes administered by the tax assessor’s office, including upcoming tax-related deadlines..
As for the Emanuel County Elections Office also housed in the Mitchell Building, it will remain open in its current location through the end of the April 15 runoff. More information about its upcoming move will be shared soon.
We appreciate your patience as the tag office and the tax office make their transition—and we look forward to welcoming you to the new space soon!
