Welcome to Emanuel County, where the pace is a little slower, the smiles are a little warmer, and the tea is always sweet. Nestled in the heart of Georgia, our county has been welcoming folks since 1812, when it was carved from Bulloch and Montgomery counties and named in honor of Governor David Emanuel, a Revolutionary War hero and Georgia's leader in 1801.A homey front porch in Emanuel County, complete with 2 glasses of sweet tea

This is a place where generations have called home, raising their families on the same ol' homesteads their grandparents did. From timber to cotton, our roots run deep in agriculture. Our towering pines and endless farmland are our legacy, and if you’re looking for the best fishin’ spots around, we’ve got rivers and creeks where you can cast a line, relax, and make memories that last a lifetime.

We’re a county that cheers loudly for our boys of fall on Friday nights. Whether you’re rooting for the Tigers, Bulldogs, or Eagles, high school football is more than just a game here—it’s a way of life. Come spring, the Pine Tree Festival takes center stage, celebrating our forestry heritage with food, fun, and a whole lot of southern charm.

With a county seat known as the “Crossroads of the Great South,” Emanuel County is proud to be the meeting point of two of America’s most historic highways, and with churches on nearly every corner, faith remains a cornerstone of our community. We also prioritize the arts through summer camps for area children and plays and galleries in our historic theatre, The Karrh Center, which is wrapping up a multimillion dollar renovation project, for the entire family.

Education is another source of pride for us. Emanuel County offers numerous state-of-the-art schools, a private academy, and the rare distinction of having both a technical college and a state college within our borders. When it comes to healthcare, our county boasts top-rated providers ranging from private practices to a public hospital that serves as a regional healthcare center.

All 8 of our municipalities (Adrian, Garfield, Nunez, Oak Park, Stillmore, Summertown, Swainsboro, and Twin City) as well as our unincorporated communities like Dellwood, Blun, Modoc, Wesley, Lexsy, Pinetucky, Oak Chapel, and Kite, add their own unique thread to the rich tapestry of our history. Together, they make Emanuel County a place that's as diverse as it is welcoming.

We're proud of our roots and equally excited about our future. Emanuel County is where progress meets preservation—a place that honors its past while embracing new opportunities.

That’s why we’ve worked alongside county and municipal leaders, local stakeholders, and community partners to craft a vision for our future. Our Joint Comprehensive Plan, last updated in October 2022, lays out the path forward—guiding decisions on growth, infrastructure, and economic development while staying true to the character that makes our county special.

Whether you're here to stay or just passing through, we invite you to experience the warmth and hospitality that define us. Come see why Emanuel County is "The Place to Grow." And if you can't stay, well, y'all come back now, ya hear?
