Qualifying Starts for May Primary and November General

Interested in running for office in Emanuel County in 2026? The qualifying period to file and officially qualify for placement on the May Primary and November General Election ballots opens March 2.
If you want to run for office and appear on the ballot for the May Primary or November General Election, you must complete the candidate qualifying process during this window.
Qualifying opens at 9 AM on Monday, March 2, 2026 and closes promptly at 12 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026.
To qualify, you must go in person to the Emanuel County Elections Office to file the required paperwork and pay the qualifying fee for the office you are seeking. All materials must be submitted in full before qualifying closes. Late or incomplete filings cannot be accepted.
If you are thinking about running, it is a good idea to review eligibility requirements, office-specific qualifications, and required documentation ahead of time so you are prepared when qualifying opens. Elections staff are available during regular business hours throughout the qualifying period to assist with the process.
