County Clerk
As the appointed county clerk by the board of commissioners, Halei Lamb keeps local government organized, transparent, and running smoothly. She works closely with the commissioners, county staff, and the public, making sure records are properly managed, meetings are well-documented, and important information is accessible to everyone. Becoming county clerk requires 101 hours of training and certification.
A big part of Halei’s job is handling public records and open meetings, following Georgia’s Sunshine Laws. These laws guarantee the public’s right to access government records and attend meetings. As the county’s Georgia Open Records Act (GORA) officer, she reviews and responds to records requests, making sure information is shared legally and efficiently. She also oversees how official documents are stored, shared, and—when necessary—disposed of properly.
On the open meetings side, Halei prepares agendas and records minutes for all types of commission meetings, including regular, workshop, special called, emergency, teleconference, committee, and executive sessions as well as public hearings. She also manages public speaking requests and ensures that meeting notices are published on time so citizens, officials, and the media stay informed.
Beyond recordkeeping, Halei serves as a key point of contact within county government. She often works between departments, the county administrator, and commissioners to coordinate projects, approvals, and administrative needs that involve multiple offices. Whether it’s handling official paperwork, securing necessary signatures, or keeping information moving between the right people, she helps keep county operations connected and running efficiently.
She also takes care of important administrative tasks like processing alcohol license applications, recording timber bonds, and assisting the commissioners with their training requirements. She helps finalize special projects and grants, making sure all necessary paperwork is signed, completed, and sent to the right people.
Halei also manages the county’s job application portal, ensuring that job openings are posted and applications reach the correct department heads.
As the county’s public relations officer, Halei makes sure citizens stay informed, involved, and connected to county government. She works to keep communication open, making local government more accessible to everyone.
